Tanis Reloading
Tanis doesn’t like the word retired. Tanis is “refocusing,” or better yet, “reloading” for what’s next.
BY ROB KIRKBRIDE
Jack Tanis is the type of worker who has his head con- stantly buried in his Blackberry, focused intensely on his job as Steelcase’s director of applied research. So it is hard to imagine the industry veteran retired. Though his last day at Steelcase was October 30th, Tanis doesn’t like the word retired. Tanis is “refocusing,” or better yet, “reloading” for what’s next.
Tanis said he isn’t straying far from his office furniture roots. He plans on consulting, teaching and doing a little writing as well. His management experiences have given him an idea for a book. So while Tanis may not be in the office furniture industry full-time, chances are you’ll still see him around the industry, sporting the latest technology and keeping track of the prog- ress of the industry he helped build.
